Posted 9 December 2021

The Parish Council approved its budget for 2022/23 at its meeting on 6th December 2021 and agreed a precept request to be made to Wiltshire Council of £13,348.00. This is an increase of approximately 20% and will see the annual cost for a Band D property rise by £9.23.

After a number of notifications on Facebook and direct correspondence with the Parish Council, it has become apparent that the number of antisocial behaviour incidents is increasing. As a council we are concerned and are aware of the distress this is causing the residents.

The council has taken steps to contact the Police and whilst it awaits their response, we would like to encourage any parishioner’s who have witnessed said antisocial behaviour or have been involved in any clean up, to report details of the incident to Councillor MorilloHall who will be collating the evidence we have.

The following information (if appropriate) would be appreciated:

Date
Time
Number of persons involved
Description of persons involved
Brief description of the incident

We advise residents not to compromise their safety and identities whilst collecting said information.

Witchcombe Green / Pavilion replanting scheme
Posted 24th September 2021

The Council hosted an Open Meeting about this on 14th July at The Pavilion, when proposals covering hedging, tree replanting, creating a wild flower area and ongoing maintenance were put forward and discussed. While some useful opinions were recorded and noted, only around 5% of all parishioners turned up, so the Council would welcome a much broader range of views. The aims are to improve biodiversity, natural wildlife habitats and reduce our carbon footprint, while creating something beneficial to all from the only area of green space the Parish currently owns (although we are negotiating with Wiltshire Council to take over the green space at Weavers Mead).

The Council has already been offered, at no cost, hedging and a number of small trees. These will need to be planted over the winter, so that they can really grow out in the spring. Planting days have been set for Saturday 27th November and Saturday 11th December, both starting at 9.30am and lasting as long as it takes. We need your help for this – the more spades in the ground, the less time it will take ! We hope to provide refreshments in The Pavilion for all your hard work.

The question of planting wild flowers is a little more contentious. We need to ensure that they're indigenous species, and in an appropriate area that can be restful and pleasant while allowing sufficient space for children to continue to play on. Your opinions are very important to us, so please send them to the Clerk, or any Councillor (contact details are on our Councillors page).

We look forward to hearing from you ! After all, it's your village.
Defibrillator training
Posted 13th September 2021

The village defibrillator is on the wall of The Pavilion, near the playpark. It has already been used, demonstrating its worth. As part of the package, training in its safe use is provided. This has, unfortunately, been held up by the Covid pandemic, but has now been arranged for 7pm, Wednesday 22nd September at The Pavilion, Witchcombe Close.

It should only take 90 minutes of your time, but that could be the most beneficial 90 minutes of your (or somebody else's) life!

Just turn up – no need to book.

The Census 2021
Posted 1 February 2021

The census is a survey that happens every 10 years and gives us a picture of all the people and households in England and Wales. All kinds of organisations, from local authorities to charities, use the information to help provide the services we all need, including transport, education and healthcare. Without the census, it would be much more difficult to do this.

If you live in England and Wales, you must take part in the census. Census information helps inform how billions of pounds of public funding is spent. By taking around 10 minutes per person to fill in the census questionnaire, you will help make sure your community gets the services needed now and in the future.
