Coronavirus Covid-19 Update
Published 17 March 2020
Dear Great Cheverell Community
I wanted to just give you an update on what is happening here in the village with regards to the current situation of Coronavirus Covid-19 support for those self-isolating and those in vulnerable groups.
The Parish Council, as a group of volunteers themselves, are currently drafting a plan to enable more focused and co-ordinated activity to support the Community. All will rely entirely on volunteers from the Community to help others. Without volunteers, the plan won’t work.
You’ll know about the fast-moving situation and changing advice which needs to be absorbed and considered as to what effects that has and any plan drawn up must take this advice into consideration.
Whilst the plan is being drafted, it would be helpful if anyone who is able to volunteer (following government advice, this should not be anyone in any vulnerable group or 70 and over) could get in contact with me, Jan Sargent (email@example.com) so I can compile a list of volunteers. Please let me have your full name, address and contact details (mobile, landline, email). The more volunteers we have the better so that the 'load' of supporting the Community does not fall on a few people.
I will post more information about the action plan (both on Facebook and the Parish Council Website) as soon as I have it and, of course, anything relevant that official channels send to me I will post in those locations too. Facebook is likely to be the fastest method of communication and I would again ask everyone to encourage as many people as possible to join the Facebook Page so that they get information. Again, where you know of anyone in the Community who is not familiar with the online world, it would be very helpful if you could support them by giving them any necessary information. It will not be possible to regularly put out ‘letterbox’ updates.
All the best and take good care of yourselves.
